#42 -The Allan Cabin

From the book written in 1998....

The original Marrion cabin was next to Nana Smith's, which Mr. and Mrs. Marrion Senior stayed in with their sons, Frank, Oscar and Burt. I believe they first arrived at Buccaneer Bay in about 1900. Oscar and Helen took over the cabin when his parents could no longer make the long trip from Vancouver.

Oscar and Helen occupied his site until the great fire of 1959 when the Marion house was pushed into Nana Smith's to break the fire. The following summer, the two sleeping  houses were moved to the new site on the meadow beach. These houses were used as a kitchen and a sleeping space. In the summer of 1962, Oscar, with the help of some men on the beach, built a new cabin. In 1964, property was purchased from Joe Simson and Buccaneer Bay Holdings Company was formed. At that same time, an addition was added to the cabin and a front deck was constructed.

I have been fortunate, as have my children, Mandy and Jay, to have purchased the Marion cabin in August, 1974. I first visited the Bay in the summer of 1935. At that time I stayed at the family cabin which is now the Leigh cottage. Jay visited the Bay for the first time when he was one and a half years old and May managed her first visit at the age of eleven  months. We stayed with the Leighs every year until we were able to get our own cabin.
