#16 - The Annable Cabin
From the book written in 1998....
The Annables were introduced to Buccaneer Bay as guests of George and Nadine O'Leary in 1961. They rented a cabin for three years on the site where the McLaren cabin is now built, two doors down from Bill Cornwall. In those days there was a third cabin in the middle rented by the Art Jones family.
In 1961, three lots became available where an old cabin once stood and Bob Annable purchased lot #16 between Peter Bernard and Mark Davidson. Bob Annable and a coworker friend built the main cabin in just six weeks. Soon a sleeping shack was added with a covered breezeway connecting the two buildings. At the time the cabin was considered to be the most modern on the beach complete with indoor plumbing. Jan Annable proudly hosted a 'shower' party for all the mother's on the beach.
In 1971, the Annable family rented their cabin to the Horton family for a period of five years. During this hiatus from Buccaneer Bay the family played golf and tennis in Vancouver.
When the eldest son, Blake Annable and eldest daughter Tanyss Baldwin had families of their own, they returned to summer fun at Buccaneer Bay. The original cabin was renovated in the late 1980's. The main living area was expanded to a great room with an open kitchen plan to accomodate the steady flow of children and guests. Now the cabin is enjoyed throughout the summer and some of the season by all four of Bob and Jan Annable's children and their families.
